Session (36) Open Studios
About
Please join us for Open Studios with our Session (36) Fellows – Widline Cadet, Bruno Cancado, Angie Cruz, Ryan Falkowitz and Katherine Augusta Mayfield – from 4 to 6 pm, on Saturday, August 10, 2019. Come see and hear the work that was created by our fellows during their six weeks in residence on Fishers Island and help us celebrate the close of the 36th session of our Fellowship Program.

Her practice is deeply rooted in her experience as an emigrant/immigrant/migrant and explores the racial and cultural tensions and identity shifts that occur with dis-placement. Her performances, photographs, and videos function as investigations of selfhood in the context of statelessness, nationalism-what it means to be a citizen of a place, and both public (the history of said place) personal history (one’s history in relation to said place). Cadet is a recipient of a 2013 Mortimer-Hays Brandeis Traveling Fellowship, as well as a 2018 Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture artist in resident.
