Writing Workshop w/ Hannah Kingsley-Ma

About

For this workshop, we’ll be using fictional foods as a prompt for our writing. Our fictional characters, like ourselves, have to eat. And when they do, we often learn a lot about them: who they share their life with, what sort of things bring them comfort or disgust, what private pleasures they allow themselves, what airs they put on in front of others, how they feel in their bodies, what kind of appetites they stoke.

We’ll be discussing Alice Munro’s short story A Real Life to look how food is used in that particular story, and using that to come up with a writing exercise of our own. You can use this session for any existing project you might have in progress or as a blank page for something new.

Writers of all kinds, from seasoned to just-starting, are warmly welcome!
