Visiting Artist: Jeanie Oleson

Lighthouse Works is pleased to welcome Jeanine Oleson to Fishers Island for the weekend of April 13, 2019 as part of our Visiting Artist Program.
In addition to conducting critical studio visits with our fellows, Jeanine will be presenting her work at an Artist Talk which is open to the public on Saturday, April 13 at 11 am. The talk will take place at Lighthouse Works which is located just west of Silver Eel Cove, where our ferry makes port, and north of the intersection of Hound Lane and Greenwood Road.
*Jeanine Oleson is an interdisciplinary artist working with images, materiality and language, which she forms into complex and humorous objects, instruments, images, videos and performances. She attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Rutgers University. Oleson has exhibited and performed at venues including: Cubitt Gallery, London (2018), Hammer Museum, LA (2017); Commonwealth & Council, LA (2017); Coreana Museum, Seoul (2017); Atlanta Contemporary, Atlanta (2016); SculptureCenter, NY (2016); New Museum, NY (2014); Exit Art, NY (2012); MoMA/P.S.1, NY (2011)Beta-Local, San Juan, Puerto Rico (2012); X-Initiative, NY (2010); Grand Arts, Kansas City, MO (2009); Socrates Sculpture Park, NY (2009); Diverseworks, Houston, TX (2009). Oleson has received a Creative Capital Artist Grant (2015), Franklin Furnace Fellowship and a Jerome Foundation Travel and Study Grant (2009); and has been in residence at Macdowell Colony, Hammer Museum, New Museum, Smack Mellon Studio Program, NY and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Oleson is an Associate Professor of Photography at Parsons School of Design. She lives in Brooklyn, NY.
