Join us at Lighthouse Works, on Saturday, August 26 from 10-11 am to meet our new fellows! The session (56) cohort of writers and artists will share an introduction to their work and plans for their time on Fishers.

Bio
Born in Lusaka Zambia, and raised in the Midwest, Ruth Jeyaveeran lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Her solo show was exhibited at Field Projects in New York in March 2023.. Other recent exhibitions include, Felt Experience at the Brattleboro Museum, Communion, a solo installation at Main Window Dumbo, and Amplify, a public outdoor sculpture at the Queens Botanical Garden. She has participated in shows at select venues in and around New York including Ely Center of Contemporary Art, The Border Project Space, Westbeth Gallery, and ABC No Rio. Jeyaveeran has been awarded residencies at the Jentel Foundation, Willapa Bay, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, La Napoule Art Foundation, and PADA Studios. She has taught courses in textiles and fibers at Parsons School of Design, and she frequently leads workshops on felting and the therapeutic benefits of craft. Currently, Jeyaveeran is an Associate Professor of Textile Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Ruth Joffre (56) is the author of the story collection Night Beast. Her work has been shortlisted for the Creative Capital Awards and been supported by residencies at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Lighthouse Works, and the Whiteley Center. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Lightspeed, Pleiades, Fantasy, khōréō, The Florida Review Online, Kenyon Review, Reckoning, Wigleaf, and the anthologies Best Microfiction 2021 & 2022. A graduate of Cornell University and the Iowa Writers' Workshop, Ruth served as the 2020-2022 Prose Writer-in-Residence at Hugo House and was a Visiting Writer at University of Washington Bothell in 2023.

Dantiel W. Moniz (56) is the recipient of a National Book Foundation “5 Under 35” Award, a Pushcart Prize, a MacDowell Fellowship, and the Alice Hoffman Prize for Fiction. Her debut collection, Milk Blood Heat, is the winner of a Florida Book Award, and was a finalist for the PEN/ Jean Stein Award, the PEN/ Robert W. Bingham Prize, and the New York Public Library Young Lions Fiction Award, as well as longlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize. Her writing has appeared in the Paris Review, Harper's Bazaar, American Short Fiction, Tin House, and elsewhere. Moniz is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she teaches fiction.

Daniel Shieh (b. Taiwan) creates immersive installations that manipulate perspective, sense of distance, and visibility to alter the viewer’s perception of each other. His work has been exhibited by LMCC Arts Center, Socrates Sculpture Park, SPRING/BREAK Art Show, Wassaic Project, Franconia Sculpture Park, Josephine Sculpture Park, and I-Park Foundation. He has participated in residencies at Cité Internationale des Arts, MASS MoCA, ACRE, Anderson Ranch, Millay Arts, Fountainhead, and Bronx Museum of the Arts. He received an MDes in Art, Design, and the Public Domain from Harvard University and is based in Brooklyn, New York.

Todd Stong (56) is an artist, educator, and writer based in Philadelphia, PA. He received a BA in Visual and Literary Arts from Brown University in 2014 and his MFA in Printmaking from the Tyler School of Art and Temple Rome in 2022. A participant in the Post-Graduate Apprentice program at the Fabric Workshop and Museum, he has also completed funded residencies at The Art Students League of New York Vytlacil Campus, the Vermont Studio Center, and the Virginia Center for Creative Arts. His writing has been published in Title Magazine, Squeegee Platinum, and the Quarantine Public Library. He has exhibited work in numerous venues, including the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia; Trestle Gallery in Brooklyn, NY; Galerie im Körnerpark in Berlin, Germany; and SPRING/BREAK Art Show in New York, NY.
