Lighthouse Works is pleased to welcome our Session 30 Fellows – Kim Hoeckele, Rachel Granofsky, Rose Nestler, Chris Prioleau and Wendy Vogel – to Fishers Island. Our Session 30 Fellows were selected by independent panels from a pool of over 1200 applicants and will be in residence from July 3 until August 14, 2018. We hope you’ll join us in welcoming our Fellows to Fishers Island and hear about their work.

Bio
Kim Hoeckele is a New York-based artist born in Atlanta, Georgia. She holds an MFA from Hunter College and a BFA from Georgia State University. She has exhibited work nationally and internationally at Hercules Art (New York, NY); Nurture Art (Brooklyn, NY); Platform Stockholm (Stockholm, Sweden); Brooklyn Art Council (Brooklyn, NY); Pelham Arts Center (Pelham, NY); Family Business (New York, NY); Smack Mellon (Brooklyn, NY); Museum of Contemporary Art (Atlanta, GA); and Atlanta Contemporary (Atlanta, GA) among other venues. Hoeckele was a 2017 fellow at the Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts. She is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University, NYU, and Parsons School of Design.

Rachel Granofsky (30) has an MFA from California College of the Arts and a BFA from Pratt Institute. She had her first solo show at Rachel Uffner in New York City in 2019. She was the 2019 Deutsche Bank NYFA Fellow. Rachel was an artist in residence at the Drawing Center’s Open Sessions program, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Lighthouse Works, Ox-Bow and Greatmore Studios. She has exhibited in group shows in South Africa, Germany, Sweden, Canada, the U.S.A. and Brazil. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Rachel currently lives and works in the Catskill Mountains.

Rose Nestler is an interdisciplinary artist focusing in sculpture and video. She received her MFA degree from Brooklyn College in 2017 where she was a Dedalus Foundation MFA Fellowship nominee and a Graduate Teaching Fellow. Her work has been exhibited at a variety of galleries including, Underdonk, Smack Mellon, CRUSH Curatorial, and CUCHIFRITOS Gallery and Project Space. Most recently she exhibited work at L.O.G. (Low Occupancy Gallery) in Chapel Hill, NC and Beverly’s Pop-Up at Good Weather Gallery in Little Rock, AK. In January 2018 she had her first solo show at Ortega y Gasset Projects in Brooklyn, NY. Rose has been an artist-in-residence at Chashama Workspace Program, Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, Vermont Studio Center and Byrdcliffe Artists Colony. This fall her piece, Gymnasia Hysteria will be presented in the Art in Odd Places: BODY performance festival along 14th Street in Manhattan.

Chris Prioleau holds a BA from the University of California-Santa Cruz and an MFA in Fiction Writing from Columbia University, where he also helped found Apogee Journal, a journal of art and literature featuring work that explores and challenges identity politics. He has published short nonfiction in Apogee and The Awl among others. He is the Development and Communications Manager for the New York Writers Coalition, teaches at the Gotham Writers Workshop, and has previously taught at Columbia University, the Benjamin Banneker Academy, Brooklyn High School for the Arts and other places. He’s currently at work on his first novel.
Bio
Wendy Vogel is a writer, art critic and curator based in Brooklyn, New York. She holds an MA from Bard College’s Center for Curatorial Studies and she was a Critical Fellow in the Core Program residency at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. A former editor at Flash Art International, Modern Painters and Art in America, she contributes to Artforum, art-agenda, Art Review, BOMB, CULTURED, frieze, the Guardian and Mousse, among other publications. She worked closely with the artist Peter Halley, the former publisher of index magazine, to edit index A to Z: art, design, fashion, film and music in the indie era (Rizzoli, 2014).
