About
Lighthouse Works is pleased to welcome our Session 28 Fellows – Annie Diamond, Anu Jindal, Helina Metaferia, Jordie Oetken and Kaveri Raina – to Fishers Island. Session 28 Fellows were selected by independent panels from a pool of over 1100 applicants and will be in residence from March 13 until April 24, 2018.
Artists
Bio
Annie Diamond is a poet and academic born and raised in Connecticut. She earned her BA in English and creative writing at Barnard College. Her poems have appeared in The Fem, The Lyric, The Columbia Review, Cargoes, Misadventures, and other publications. Her writing has been supported by the MacDowell Colony and Boston University, where she completed her MFA in 2017. She plans to pursue a PhD in English.
Bio
Anu Jindal is the author of short stories published in Electric Literature’s Recommended Reading, The New Quarterly, Joyland Magazine, Pioneer, and Matrix Magazine. His story “Not a Bad Bunch” was selected by Amazon to be a Kindle Single and Audible audiobook in 2014. A MacDowell Colony Fellow, Center for Fiction NYC Emerging Writers Fellow, and NYFA Immigrant Artist Program Fellow, he has held residencies at the Headlands Center for the Arts and Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, and received grants from the Jerome Foundation and the Canada Council for the Arts. He earned his M.F.A. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2014, and has taught Creative Writing at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Anu currently resides in Queens, New York, where he is Contributing Editor at Electric Literature magazine.

Helina Metaferia (28) is an interdisciplinary artist working across collage, assemblage, video, performance, and social engagement. Metaferia received her MFA from Tufts University’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Her work was included in the Sharjah Biennial, United Arab Emirates. She’s held solo exhibitions at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA; RISD Art Museum, Providence, RI; and Museum of African Diaspora, San Francisco, CA. Her work is in the permanent collection of institutions including Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA; and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York, NY. Metaferia’s work has been written about in publications including The New York Times, Financial Times, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Artnet News and The Art Newspaper. Metaferia is an Assistant Professor at Brown University in the Visual Art department, and lives and works in New York City.

Jordie Oetken was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. In 2012, she was awarded the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Fellowship to study at the Yale / Norfolk School of Art before graduating with a BFA from Murray State University in 2013. She has held residencies at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and Vermont Studio Center, and recently graduated with an MFA from UCLA in 2017.

Kaveri Raina (28) (b. 1990; Delhi, India) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She received her BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2011, her MFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2016. She attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2017 and was a Lighthouse Works Fellow in 2018. Raina has received various awards and fellowships including the James Nelson Raymond fellowship and the Fred and Joanna Lazarus Scholarship, and she was recently nominated for the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors grant. Raina’s work has been exhibited in the US, India and Europe.
