59,411 is a series of pithy, ambulatory, transient and accumulative experiences with contemporary artists and art taking place at Lighthouse Works between July–October 2026, in, around, and through walking.
The title refers to the number of footsteps it is rumored to take to stroll the perimeter of Fishers Island. Like any good walk, 59,411 has a natural cadence, unexpected encounters, and evolves unhurriedly over time.
Join us throughout the summer and fall for artist-led walks inviting you to experience the island in new ways; encounter artworks at the Annex and events across Fishers Island that investigate the practice, aesthetics, possibilities, and politics of walking from many angles; browse and check out books and audio guides from the walker’s lending library at Lighthouse Works to accompany you on your own strolls.

medium-sized (Hai-Wen Lin + Margaret Wright) is a meeting of object, language, and documented performance. Hai-Wen and Margaret met on Fishers Island; their first collaborative project was walking the perimeter of the island.
Bio
Margaret Wright is a writer and teacher from New Jersey. Her work has received support from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Monson Arts, Princeton University, and New York University, where she was a Writers in the Public Schools Fellow. Her writing can be found at Words Without Borders and in Ploughshares Magazine. She is currently working on a documentary poetry manuscript chronicling a 30-year water rights battle in Nevada. She lives in Brooklyn, NY.
Bio
Hai-Wen Lin is a Taiwanese-American artist currently based in Chicago. They are an alumnus of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and earned a Master of Design in Fashion, Body and Garment from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where they were selected as a Fashion Future Graduate by the CFDA upon graduating. They have received fellowships from MacDowell, Vermont Studio Center, and the Ox-Bow School of Art and attended residencies at the Wassaic Project and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Lin has performed publicly at the Chicago Cultural Center and MU Gallery and has exhibited work in a variety of places including Prairie, in Chicago; Queen, in Bellingham, Washington; the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles; the Pittsburgh Glass Center; the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art, in Gimpo, South Korea; 3S Artspace in New Hampshire; the walls of their home; their friend’s home; on a plate; on a lake; on their body; in the sky.

Zachary Fabri is an interdisciplinary artist that mines the intersection of his personal life and the local community, with concerns surrounding cultural commodification, gentrification, and public space. Often complicating the boundaries of studio research, site-specific performance, and social practice, Fabri has immersed himself in environments such as Target stores, the Trump Soho Hotel, and the streets of Harlem. This context specificity often yields work that includes drawing, photography, video, performance, installation, and sound art. Awards include The Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award, the Franklin Furnace Fund for Performance Art, the New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship, and the Colene Brown Art Prize. Fabri’s work has been exhibited at Art in General, The Studio Museum in Harlem, El Museo del Barrio, The Walker Art Center, The Brooklyn Museum, The Barnes Foundation, Performa, the Museum of Modern Art, the Sharjah Biennial, and Pace gallery. Fabri lives and works in Brooklyn.

Coco Klockner is an artist and writer. She is the author of the speculative novella K-Y (Genderfail Press, 2019) and her essays have appeared in Texte Zur Kunst, Spike Art Magazine, Disclaimer/Liquid Architecture, and The Whitney Review. Klockner has had solo exhibitions at Silke Lindner, New York; Bad Water, Knoxville, TN; stop-gap projects, Columbia, MO; The Anderson Gallery, Richmond, VA; Vent Space, Baltimore, MD; and has a forthcoming exhibition at SculptureCenter. She received an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019 and a BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2014. She is director of the project space hatred 2 in Brooklyn, NY.

Amanda Martínez: b. 1988, Greenville, SC (Tsalagihi Ayeli) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY (Lenapehoking). Inventing her own language of geometric abstraction, fashioning stencils or “profiles” of undulating shapes as distinct units of measurement, she maps out and carves her sculptures into discrete building blocks with infinite possible configurations. Martínez's work draws upon her intergenerational family history of working in adobe (earthen construction) as well as the visual languages of southwestern vernacular architecture and craft movements. Martínez received her Bachelors in Fine Arts from Kansas City Art Institute. She recently completed Cercado, an installation in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden as part of the Ankhlave Garden Project Fellowship and will be the 2026 artist in residence at Drew University. Solo presentations of her work include The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum; Ridgefield, CT; Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, Nagoya, Japan; Here Gallery, Pittsburgh, PA; HESSE FLATOW, New York, NY and elsewhere. Her work has been reviewed in Curbed, Surface Magazine, The New Yorker, The New York Times among others.

Alina Tenser (55) is a Ukrainian-born artist and Educator living and working in Brooklyn, NY. She completed her undergraduate degree at the School of Visual Arts and received her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. Working across sculpture, performance, and video, she makes propositions that elicit physical activation and play. Tenser’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally with recent solo exhibitions at SE Cooper Contemporary, Portland, OR, Hesse Flatow, New York, NY; 17Essex, New York, NY, and Konstepidemin, Gothenburg, SE. Her work has been widely reviewed and written about in publications such as New York Times, The New Yorker Magazine, Artforum, BOMB Magazine, Cultured Magazine, and The Brooklyn Rail. She has participated in multiple artist residencies, most notably The Queens Museum Studio Program and Recess Activities.
